CompUSA is closing 128 of their 228 stores, leaving them with just 100 open locations. Stores will be handed over to a liquidator starting tomorrow, so there may be deals to be had. Grab stuff you may need while you can; thank god we got our Apple store in before the stores started closing!
OK, here's my first stitched panoramic shot -- it was tough because there was no EXIF data from the camera, the lighting conditions were changing faster than we could line up shots with our dinky Pont 'n Click digicam, and we weren't *really* trying to shoot for a panoramic.
So, please forgive any smudges/artifacts that are left over--it took a couple days of wrangling with a demo copy of PTMac and a lot of time with Gimpshop crashing all the time. (And my gimp-fu is weak.... :) )
So, here it is, and if you like it, be sure to click through to the full size on Flickr. The colors are real, and I'm blown away that this is the kind of stuff I see out my balcony all the time. Is good to be living in Albuquerque!
BTW, my personal banner is a picture of the Sandia Mountains from my front balcony during Fall 2006. I spent all of 30 seconds cropping/stretching the picture....after a night of frustration of trying to figure out some way to use my picture of Neuschwanstein.
Here's the original used for my banner:
And just to show how dynamic the weather (and Sandia Mountain) can be, here's a few pictures of the sunset that evening (look closely or click through to the flickr page to see the double rainbow..and no, the picture's colors have not been retouched in any way):
It's snowing!
Snow-covered landscapes are simply drop-dead gorgeous, as long as it doesn't stick around too long. While Christmas itself probably won't be white, I'll take a good snuggling day less than a week before.
Oh, and Mookie was definitely a bobcat in a previous life, if not this one. He looks completely comfortable in the snow, though that's easy to do when he can come back inside when he wants. We'll let the ferrets out to play in the back yard in a bit.
Pics to come as soon as the batteries finish recharging! (Good thing we got the 15min recharger)
